Additional information on Internal Doors
There are specific elements which determine an internal door from those suitable for exterior use and it is important that the correct type of door is chosen and the appropriate finishes applied to them for an internal location. Refer to our Door Finishes section for important and necessary information. We also supply a broad range of internal door frames and architraves to complete your door project. If you want to view perticular timbers, use the filters on the side bar to see pine, walnut or oak doors.
Generally internal doors are 35mm in thickness unless they have metric dimensions when they will be 40mm, doors certified for fire protection will be 45mm for FD30 or 54mm for FD60. These fire doors should only be used as an internal door regardless of there substantial construction. Most Modern internal doors now are engineered which refers to a solid construction made from a variety of timbers which are then faced with real timber veneers. This method produces consistency in manufacture both from a structural specification and that of their appearance. Some of our interior doors are supplied un-finished allowing you to apply wood treatment stains of your own choosing, this is particularly the case for many traditional doors.
The prefinished doors we supply are fully finished to a high specification, designs are generally contemporary doors though many classic door styles are also available pre-finished. These prefinished doors benefit quicker installation but it must be remembered that during fitting any areas shaved for minor adjustment should be treated with a recommended finish to prevent moisture ingress.
