There are specific elements which determine an interior door from those suitable for exterior use and it is important that the correct type of door is chosen and the appropriate finishes applied to them for an interior situation.  Refer to our Door Finishes section for important and necessary information.

Deciding on internal doors is one of the most important interior design considerations to make and one which is often underestimated.  Stunning effects can be achieved by choosing appropriate styled doors and the variety of timbers now available can often inspire and be a good starting point for a particular interior scheme.

Practical considerations when choosing interior doors for your home

Generally interior doors are 35mm in thickness though if they are certified for fire protection they will be 45mm for FD30 or 54mm for FD60.  Some ranges offer the metric sizes which often come in 40mm. Theses doors should only be used in interior situations regardless of there substantial construction.  Most Modern doors nowadays are engineered which refers to the solid construction made from a variety of timbers which are then faced with real timber veneers.  This system produces consistency in manufacture both from a structural specification and that of their appearance.

Some of our interior doors are supplied un-finished which allows the customer to apply stains and varnishes of their own choosing, this is particularly the case for many traditional door ranges. The doors we supply which are pre-finished are fully finished to a high specification, styles are generally contemporary though many classic door styles are available pre-finished.  These doors have the advantage of  quicker installation though it must be remembered that during fitting any areas shaved for minor adjustment should be treated to prevent moisture ingress.
